Special traffic arrangements for cycling race

Police will implement special traffic arrangements on Hong Kong Island to facilitate the holding of an international cycling race to be held this Sunday (October 19).

The following traffic arrangements will be implemented on October 18 and 19:

Road closure
------------
(A) Preparation phase
(i) Bank Street will be closed from 1am to 10am on October 19; and
(ii) The two rightmost lanes of westbound Queen's Road Central between Des Voeux Road Central and Ice House Street will be closed from 2am to 8am on October 19.

(B) Departure phase
(i) A section of Queen's Road Central between Des Voeux Road Central and Ice House Street will be closed from about 7.25am on October 19; and
(ii) Rolling closure will be implemented at the following roads during the race from about 7.30am on October 19:
1. Queen's Road Central;
2. Pedder Street;
3. Eastbound Connaught Road Central;
4. Eastbound Harcourt Road;
5. Northbound Tim Mei Avenue;
6. Eastbound Fenwick Pier Street;
7. Eastbound Harbour Road;
8. Northbound Fleming Road;
9. Eastbound Convention Avenue;
10. Eastbound Hung Hing Road;
11. Hung Hing Road Flyover;
12. Eastbound Victoria Park Road;
13. Eastbound Island Eastern Corridor; and
14. Eastbound Wing Tai Road.

(C) Road closure at Chai Wan area
(i) A section of the first rightmost lane of southbound Shing Tai Road between Chong Fu Road and Shun Tai Road will be closed from 3pm on October 18 to 11am on October 19;
(ii) The lay-by at Sheung On Street opposite to the bus depot will be closed from 2am to 11am on October 19;
(iii) A section of the second leftmost lane of eastbound Wing Tai Road between Shing Tai Road and Sheung Ping Street will be closed from 2am to 11am on October 19; and
(iv) The lay-by of the eastern section of Shing Tai Road will be closed from 2am to 11am on October 19.

Except for franchised buses entering or leaving bus depots and vehicles entering or leaving car parks from 6am to 7.30am and from 9.10am to 10am respectively, the following roads will be closed from 6am to 10am on October 19:
(i) The first and second leftmost lanes of eastbound Wing Tai Road between Island Eastern Corridor and Sheung Ping Street;
(ii) Sheung Ping Street;
(iii) Sheung On Street between Ka Yip Street and Chong Fu Road;
(iv) Chong Fu Road;
(v) Sheung Tat Street;
(vi) Sheung Mau Street;
(vii) A section of southbound Shing Tai Road between Chong Fu Road and Wing Tai Road; and
(viii) A section of Shing Tai Road between the roundabout outside block 43 of Heng Fa Chuen and Chong Fu Road, except for vehicles entering the car park of Paradise Mall.

Suspension of on-street and metered parking spaces

All on-street and metered parking spaces on the following roads will be suspended from 2pm on October 18 to noon on October 19.
(i) Sheung On Street;
(ii) Chong Fu Road;
(iii) Shing Tai Road;
(iv) Sheung Tat Street; and
(v) Sheung Mau Street.

Suspension of bus stops, taxi stands and green minibus stands
-------------------------------------------------------------
(i) Bus stops at Queen's Road Central outside Cheung Kong Centre and opposite to HSBC Main Building will be temporarily suspended from 2am to 9am on October 19. Affected bus routes will be diverted to Des Voeux Road Central and bus stops will be relocated outside HSBC Main Building and The Landmark;
(ii) All bus stops within the closed area in Chai Wan area will be suspended during the road closure period; and
(iii) The taxi stand at Sheung Ping Street will be suspended from 6am to 10am on October 19; and
(iv) The green minibus stands at Sheung Ping Street will be suspended from 6am to 10am on October 19.
(v) The green minibus stands at the lay-by on Sheung On Street will be suspended from 2am to 11am on October 19.

Vehicles parked or stationed within the closed area in Chai Wan, including those at car parks, bus depots and petrol stations, will not be permitted to leave the carparks and closed area during the road closure period until the roads are re-opened for normal traffic.

Motorists are urged to take heed of traffic signs at the scene and instructions by Traffic Police.
