Man arrested for insurance fraud
***************************

The Police Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) today (October 27) arrested a 28-year-old man for conspiracy to defraud six insurance companies in Hong Kong for a total of over $7.3 million.

Initial investigations revealed that in June to August 2007, a woman purchased six life insurance policies from six insurance companies in Hong Kong with total coverage of $7.3 million and named a man as her sole beneficiary of all these policies. In March 2008, the man alleged that the woman died overseas and made his claims with an overseas death certificate to these six insurance companies.

Doubtful about the authenticity of the death certificate by the insurance companies, a report was made to the police.

After extensive investigations, CCB officers this morning arrested the 28-year-old man for conspiracy to defraud in Hung Hom.

The man is being detained for further enquiries. Investigations by CCB are still under way.
