Appeal for information on abandoned baby girl

Police are anxious to locate the next-of-kin of a baby girl who was found abandoned in North Point today (November 1).

About 2.50pm, a 52-year-old female staff of a supermarket on King's Road found a baby girl in the shop. A report was then made to the Police.

The Asian baby girl, with an umbilical cord, was embraced by a piece of newspaper and several plastic bags and was placed on the floor near the fruit counter of the supermarket.

The baby girl was sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital for treatment and is now admitted in critical condition.

The District Crime Squad of Eastern District is investigating the case.

Police urged the relatives of the baby or anyone who has information to offer to contact the investigating officers at 2880 4363 or the duty officers of North Point Police Station at 2880 4200.
