Fatal traffic accident in Chai Wan

Police are investigating a traffic accident in Chai Wan this morning (November 21) in which a 76-year-old man died.

About 7.45am, a public light bus (PLB) driven by a 43-year-old man was travelling along Mong Lung Street southbound. When turning right to Factory Street westbound, the PLB reportedly hit a 76-year-old male pedestrian.

The man sustained serious head injury and was sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital where he was certified dead at 10.54am.

The 43-year-old PLB driver was arrested for "dangerous driving causing death".

Investigations by the Accident Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island are under way.
