Police investigate the death of a police officer

Police are investigating an open fire case in which a 39-year-old police officer was found unconscious at his residence in Kwai Chung this morning (November 28) and was later certified dead at hospital.

The case came to light at about 1.45am when his 39-year-old wife found the off-duty police constable lying unconscious on the floor inside a study room, with a gunshot wound to his chest. The service revolver was placed on the ground next to him.

The constable was immediately rushed to Yan Chai Hospital where he was certified dead at 2.22am.

The result of the post-mortem conducted today revealed that the deceased died of gunshot wound to his chest.

Investigations by Regional Crime Unit, New Territories South are proceeding.
