Man jailed for theft and deception

A 33-year-old man were sentenced to jail for 7 years at the District Court today (December 23) for theft, obtaining pecuniary advantages by deception, possession of counterfeit banknotes, forgery and possession of false instruments.

The District Court heard that the defendant was employed by 12 companies from January 2001 to June 2008. During his tenure of employments, he stole and deceived from nine of those companies for a total amount of about $3.65 million.

Police later received the report and arrested the defendant in June this year after further investigation.

The defendant was charged with theft, obtaining pecuniary advantages by deception, possession of counterfeit banknotes, forgery and possession of false instruments and sentences were handed down today.
