Fatal traffic accident in Kwun Tong

Police are investigating a traffic accident in Kwun Tong this evening (December 25) in which a 75-year-old man was killed.

About 6pm, a light goods vehicle driven by a 56-year-old man was travelling along Lei Yue Mun Road towards Kwun Tong. When reaching the junction of Lei Yue Mun Road and Ko Chiu Road, it hit the 75-year-old man who was crossing the road.

The man sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to the United Christian Hospital where he was certified dead at 7.37pm.

The 56-year-old driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He was allowed to bail out pending further enquiry.

Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East are underway. Anyone who saw the accident or who has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers at 2305 7575 or 2305 7572.
