Man jailed for using forged credit card

A 30-year-old man was sentenced to jail for 40 months at the District Court today (December 30) for possession of false instruments with intent and obtaining property by deception.

The court heard that acted on information, officers of Commercial Crime Bureau conducted extensive investigation and arrested the 30-year-old man at his residence in Tin Shui Wai on July 31, 2008. Nine suspected forged credit cards were seized during the operation.

Further investigations revealed that the man had made use of other suspected forged credit cards, which he had disposed after use, for the consumption of food and commodities with a total value of about $3,000.

The man was subsequently charged with one count of possession of false instruments with intent and six counts of obtaining property by deception. He pleaded guilty to the charges and the sentence was handed down today.
