Special traffic arrangements in Lam Tsuen
**********************************

Police will implement crowd management and special traffic arrangements to facilitate members of the public to visit the "Wishing Tree" in Lam Tsuen, Tai Po during the Lunar New Year from January 26 to February 9.

"As a large number of people are expected to visit the 'Wishing Tree' in Lam Tsuen and there will be no parking space for private cars, we are calling on the public to make use of public transport to access the area so as to minimise the chance of traffic congestion," a Police spokesman said.

The following traffic measures will be implemented from 7am until 7pm between January 26 and February 1 and between February 7 and 9:

Temporary restricted zone:
- All vehicles will be temporarily prohibited from picking up/setting down passengers and loading/unloading goods at
(a) a section of access road to Fong Ma Po Village between its junction with Lam Kam Road and Lam Tsuen Rural Committee Office; and
(b) a section of Lam Kam Road between the access road to Tong Sheung Tsuen and Lam Kam Road Interchange, except franchised buses and green minibuses.

The following traffic measures will be implemented from 7am until 7pm daily between January 26 and February 9:

Road closure:
- The section of access road to Fong Ma Po Village between Pai Lau and Lam Tsuen Rural Committee Office will be closed.

Temporary traffic diversion:
- Except for franchised buses, green minibuses, taxis with passengers and vehicles of Lam Tsuen residents, all vehicles accessing Lam Kam Road (Pat Heung bound) are only permitted to travel via the slow lane of the slip road leading from northbound Tolo Highway to Lam Kam Road Interchange.

- Depending on the prevailing traffic situation, public light buses and taxis may be allowed to drop off or pick up passengers at the bus stops near Hang Ha Po Tsuen and Tong Sheung Tsuen. Plying for hire is strictly prohibited.

- A temporary vehicle holding area will be allocated outside Lam Tsuen Public School to facilitate visitors alighting/boarding vehicles.

- Special green minibus route No.25K and special bus route No. 64K will run from MTR Tai Wo Station and MTR Tai Po Market Station respectively to Fong Ma Po from January 26 to February 1. A temporary minibus stop will be set up inside the temporary vehicle holding area.

"Police will take enforcement actions against traffic offenders. Any illegally parked vehicles will be towed away without prior notice," the spokesman said.

Members of the public are urged to take heed of instructions of Police at the scene.
