Serious traffic accident in Kowloon City

Police are investigating a traffic accident in which 15 people were injured in Kowloon City this afternoon (March 1).

About 6.30pm, a coach driven by a 45-year-old man was travelling along Waterloo Road towards Kowloon Tong. When reaching near Cornwall Street, it lost control and rammed into a taxi ahead. After the impact, the coach continued to move forward and hit a private car at Junction Road, resulting in a chain collision.

A total of 13 vehicles were involved in the accident, including the coach, two taxis, nine private cars and a bus.

Nine men and six women, aged between 16 and 73, were injured during the accident. They were sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Kwong Wah Hospital respectively for treatment.

The coach driver was arrested for dangerous driving and is still being detained for further enquiries.

Investigations by the Accident Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West are continuing.
