About 7 500 youngsters and JPC members from 20 police districts throughout the territory simultaneously participated in anti-drug educational or publicity activities in their respective districts on the second "Junior Police Call (JPC) Territory-wide Anti-drug Day" today (April 3).

Supported by the Beat Drugs Fund and launched last December, the "JPC Territory-wide Anti-drug Day" campaign aims to reinforce anti-drug education and publicity among youngsters and to raise public awareness of youth drug abuse problem.

With the participation of more than 80 primary and secondary schools, more than 40 events were held today, including school talks, distribution of leaflets, visit to the Drug InfoCentre, day camping and fun fair, while the bicycle parade in Tung Chung and the pledging ceremonies in Kwun Tong and Wong Tai Sin were some of the highlights.

Lantau District JPC members, joined by 100 secondary school students, participated in the parade to drive anti-drug messages home. They also distributed souvenirs and leaflets at schools after the parade.

Kwung Tong and Wong Tai Sin Districts invited primary and secondary schools in the districts to hold a "Students Say No to Drugs"pledging ceremony, during which students all pledged to stay away from drugs and live a healthy lifestyle.

A Police spokesman said:"We will continue to maintain close collaboration with schools and community bodies in organising healthy activities for young people, in order to enhance their awareness of the harmful effects of taking drugs and gather their strength in the fight against drug abuse."

"In particular, we would like to remind all young people to stay vigilant against drug abuse during the coming Easter holiday and remember'No Drugs, No Regrets'", he stressed.
