Man jailed for intending to pervert the course of public justice
**************************************************

A 57-year-old man was today (April 15) jailed for four months after pleading guilty to the charge of doing an act tending and intended to pervert the course of public justice.

Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts heard that police officers responded to a complaint nuisance report on November 3, 2008, that the 57-year-old man was found idling on the rooftop of a building on Cha Kwo Ling Road, Kwun Tong. Police enquiry revealed that he was not a resident of the building and police officers therefore escorted him to leave the building.

The man later made a report to Police after leaving the building and alleged that a police officer had pushed and kicked him at the staircase when he was leaving the building.

The Complaint Against Police Office (CAPO) took over the complaint for investigation and found that the accusation was unfounded. The man was subsequently arrested and charged in March this year.

CAPO is committed to conducting impartial and thorough investigation of all complaints against the Police. The well-established complaint system under the independent and impartial monitoring of the Independent Police Complaints Council ensures that each and every public complaint against the Police is investigated justly, promptly, thoroughly and without prejudice.
