Four mainland men jailed for conspiracy to defraud
**************************************************

Four mainland men have been given jail sentences ranging from three years to three years and eight months for conspiracy to defraud in the District Court.

The court heard that officers of Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) mounted an anti-deception operation in Kwun Tong District on February 24 this year and arrested four mainland men, 44 to 50, who were about to deceive a 59-year-old woman to purchase a large quantity of low value electronic parts, which they falsely claimed to be hi-tech products.

Police further enquiries revealed that the 44-year-old man was also in connection with another similar deception case in which a 57-year-old woman was deceived of $30,000 on July 31, 2008.

The men were subsequently charged with conspiracy to defraud and convicted of all charges today.
