One man died in Tai Po traffic accident

Police are investigating a traffic accident in Tai Po this morning (May 24) in which a 29-year-old man died and five people were injured.

About 3.30am, a private car driven by a 29-year-old man with five passengers and another private car driven by a man were travelling along the second lane and third lane of Tolo Highway heading Kowloon respectively. When reaching near Deerhill Bay, the private car on the third lane reportedly cut lane and collided with the other private car. The latter then hit the railing on the left.

The driver and five passengers, including two male and three female aged between 25 and 30, on board his vehicle were injured and sent to Prince of Wales Hospital. The 29-year-old male passenger, sustaining head injuries, was later certified dead at 4.22am.

Another driver had left scene upon the arrival of the police.

Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North are underway.
