Police today (June 12) appealed for information on a burglary in Tuen Mun in which some antiques and jewellery worth over $2 million were stolen last week.

At about 1am on Sunday (June 7), Police received a report that the premises of a company at an industrial building on 7-9 Ho Tin Street was suspected to have been burgled. Police sped to the scene and found that the roller shutter had been prised open with its hasp cut.

Upon checking, the company found that an antique golden jug, two watches and jewellery worth about $2.1 million and cash of about $190,000 were missing.

Initial enquiries revealed that the culprits might have cut the hasp of the roller shutter with a cutter and then prised open the shutter with a crowbar.

Investigations by the District Crime Squad of Tuen Mun are proceeding.

Anyone who might have witnessed the incident or has information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers on 2456 5370, 2456 5315 or the duty officer of Tuen Mun Police Station on 2456 5200.

Police also reminded the public that if anyone offered them an antique jug of dubious origins they should report it to the Police.
