Fatal traffic accident in Mong Kok

Police are investigating a traffic accident in Mong Kok last night (June 12) in which two women aged 48 and 25 were killed.

At about 11.40 pm, a bus was traveling along eastbound of Mong Kok Road, on reaching Sai Yeung Choi South Street, it reportedly collided with a public light bus (PLB) which driven out from the southbound of Sai Yeung Choi South Street. The PLB then rammed onto the pavement of Mong Kok Road.

Nine female pedestrians and the PLB male driver sustained injuries. Five of them were sent to Kwong Wah Hospital, while four of them and the PLB driver were sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

A 48 year-old woman was later certified dead at 0.05am this morning at Kwong Wah Hospital, while a 25 year-old woman was certified dead at 0.13am at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The 34-year-old PLB driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death.
