Man charged with murder

Police today (June 28) charged a 22-year-old expatriate man with one count of murder.

The man was arrested in connection with a traffic accident in Central yesterday (June 27) morning in which a 58-year-old taxi-driver was killed.

About 3.30am, a taxi (1st taxi )was travelling along Connaught Road Central East bound. When reaching near Murray Road, it reportedly hit the central railing and collided with three other taxis travelling on the opposite carriageway. The taxi was subsequently driven by a male expatriate passenger in the wrong direction and hit another taxi.

The 58-year-old driver of the 1st taxi was certified dead at 8.32am on the same day.

The man will appear in Eastern Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (June 29).
