Fatal traffic accident in Aberdeen

Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Aberdeen this morning (July 18), in which a man was killed and ten persons were injured. .

About 8.10am, a taxi driven by a 54-year-old man was travelling along Repulse Bay Road towards Stanley, while a public light bus (PLB) driven by a 42-year-old man was travelling towards Repulse Bay. When approaching the junction with Headland Road, the taxi reportedly crossed to the opposite carriageway and collided with the PLB.

The taxi driver and his male passenger and nine passengers on the PLB sustained injuries and were taken to Queen Mary Hospital and Eastern Hospital. The taxi driver was certified dead at 8.55am at Queen Mary Hospital.

Investigation by Special Investigation Team for Traffic, Hong Kong Island was underway.

Police appeal to the public who might have witnessed the accident is urged to contact the investigation officers on 3106 8800 or 3106 8849.
