Man dies in traffic accident in Stanley

Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a 67-year-old man was killed on Stanley Gap Road this afternoon (August 10).

Around 2pm today, a public bus driven by a 48-year-old man was traveling along Stanley Gap Road eastbound, and a taxi driven by the 67-year-old man was traveling along the same road westbound. The taxi reportedly lost control near The Twins and swerved into the eastbound lane, and had a head-on collision with the public bus. The taxi then rebounded to the westbound lane and crashed with a private car.

Three female bus passengers aged 26-55, the 67-year-old male taxi driver and the 37-year-old female private car driver were injured in the accident, and were sent to Ruttonjee Hospital, Queen Mary Hospital and Hong Kong Adventist Hospital. The 67-year-old taxi driver was later certified dead at 9.23pm in Queen Mary Hospital.

The Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island will take over the case for investigation.
