Police appeal for information on serious traffic accident in Ngau Tau Kok

Police today (August 15) appealed for information about a serious traffic accident in Ngau Tau Kok on August 12 in which a 32-year-old sergeant was injured.

About 10.25am on August 12, the sergeant was driving a police motorcycle with beacon activated along eastbound Kwun Tong Bypass. When the officer slowed down the motorcycle to give way for vehicles merging from Wang Chiu Road slip road, a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driven by a 58-year-old man hit the police motorcycle from behind.

The officer was trapped underneath the HGV and was rescued by firemen. Sustaining serious injury to his legs, he was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The HGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving and had been released on bail pending further investigation.

Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East, are underway.
