Fatal traffic accident near airport

Police are investigating a traffic accident near Chek Lap Kok Airport this afternoon (August 21) in which a 57-year-old man was killed.

A light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 49-year-old man was travelling along the fast lane of Airport Road towards Chek Lap Kok Airport about 1.50pm. Near Cathy Pacific City, a taxi driven by 57-year-old man hit the rear of the LGV.

Both drivers sustained injuries and were taken to Princess Margaret Hospital where the taxi driver was certified dead at 2.52pm.

Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South are proceeding.
