Trio killed in Lantau North fatal traffic accident

Police are investigating a traffic accident in Lantau North this morning (August 28) in which three men were killed and 22 men were injured.

A coach driven by a 46-year-old man was travelling on North Lantau Highway towards Kowloon at about 4.10 am. When approaching Siu Ho Wan, the coach lost control and side-turned.

Twenty-two male passengers sustained injuries and were sent to Princess Margaret Hospital and Yan Chai Hospital. Another three trapped male passengers were certified dead at scene after being rescued by the firemen.

The coach driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and was being detained for further enquiries.

Investigations by Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South are proceeding.
