Through the Best Security Services Awards Scheme, the Police aims to motivate the security services industry to raise their standard of security and property management, provide all citizens with quality security services, and thereby prevent crimes. The Scheme also commends personnel in the industry for their outstanding performance in helping the Police combat crime during the past year.

The Crime Prevention Bureau and Regional Crime Prevention Offices organise an array of award schemes every year, including the Security Services Best Training Award, Best Security Services Awards and the Best Security Personnel Awards.

Crime Prevention Bureau Security Services Best Training Award 2013 (2014-03-21)
A total of 29 security companies were commended at the 4th Security Services Best Training Award (BTA) Presentation Ceremony on March 21, 2014.
The award was aimed at encouraging security companies to develop long-term training programmes to enhance the quality and professional competence of their security officers.
This would help the Force to maintain law and order and provide an environment conducive for the long-term development of the security industry.
The Force had been motivating the industry to provide quality services with various means. In addition to paying regular visits to security companies and providing guidelines to the management and practitioners, each Regional Crime Prevention Office organises the Best Security Guards Award regularly to recognise the achievement of the practitioners.
Launched for the fourth time, the BTA is jointly organised by the Crime Prevention Bureau and the Security Services Training Board of the Vocational Training Council (VTC), with the support of the Security and Guarding Services Industry Authority (SGSIA).
The BTA comprises four categories: “Type I Security Company Licence” (offering general security service with 501 or more staff), “Type I Security Company Licence” (offering general security service with 500 or less staff), “Type II Security Company Licence” (offer armoured transportation service), and “Type III Security Company Licence” (offering design, installation, maintenance and repair service of security systems).
A selection panel comprising representatives of the Force, VTC and SGSIA, assessed the resources allocated for training activities by the companies participating in the award scheme. Selection criteria included the number of training hours and the staff involved in the past 12 months, the coverage of the training courses and the involvement and support of the management.
Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit Awards were presented to winning security companies to recognise their efforts to enhance the professional competence of their staff.
"The Security Services Best Training Award 2012" are now open for nomination. Closing Date is fixed on 14th December 2012. The Security Services Best Training Award (BTA) is organised by the Crime Prevention Bureau of the Hong Kong Police Force and the Security Services Training Board of the Vocational Training Council, with the support of the Security and Guarding Services Industry Authority.
The award aims at encouraging security companies to develop long-term training programmes with a view to enhancing the quality and professional competence of their security officers.

‘Hong Kong Island Best Security Services Awards 2013-2014 Presentation Ceremony’ organized by Regional Crime Prevention Office of Hong Kong Island was held at Queen Elizabeth Stadium, 18 Oi Kwan Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong on 14th November 2014. The award scheme aims at commending security & guarding personnel for their outstanding performance and professionalism displayed during the year within the Hong Kong Island region, as well as praising property management companies for maintaining good security facilities and providing quality services. To take it further, the award scheme also motivates the security & guarding services industry and the property management industry to enhance the overall quality and competence of their personnel. Joint efforts by the industries and the Police in safeguarding citizens’ property and households not only succeed in providing a safe environment for the community to live and work in, but also help Hong Kong continue to keep her remarkable reputation as ‘one of the safest city in the world’.
Over 1,300 nominations were received this year, of which 222 property management units were presented with ‘Outstanding Industrial/ Commercial Property Management Award’ or ‘Outstanding Residential Property Management Award’. 200 professional security personnel were presented with ‘Outstanding Security Personnel Award’ or ‘The Best Security Personnel Award’. Among them, ten had been further elected as ‘The Best Top Ten Security Personnel’ for their outstanding performance by an Election Panel comprised of representatives from Security and Guarding Services Industry Authority, the four District Fight Crime Committees of Hong Kong Island, Teens and Elderly Mission Committee and Crime Hong Kong Island Regional Headquarters of the Police Force. All of the awardees had made appreciable contributions in their own posts to prevent crime and protect their clients’ property during the year. They had assisted the Police in saving lives, preventing phone scams, arresting suspects and culprits of theft cases, while one of them with courage and a high level of alertness and judgment had helped a trapped resident escaping from the fire scene safely. Also, two shopping mall security personnel took proactive step to assist the police in grasping material information by viewing over 100 CCTV video clips regarding a theft of gold bullion case, resulting in the arrest of culprits and the recovery of stolen property.
Officiating at the Presentation Ceremony, the Regional Commander of Hong Kong Island, Mr. LI Kin-fai, commended 50 banking practitioners and money service operators for their help in the interdiction of 23 phone scams in 2013 and 2014 thus preventing the elderly victims from losing the life savings.
In addition, representatives from various companies, organizations and institutions were also invited to attend the presentation ceremony in which they were thanked for their enthusiastic support and aid given to the Police on promoting crime prevention.

Representatives from different companies, organizations, institutions and schools which had given enthusiastic support and assistance to the Police on promoting crime prevention messages were also invited by Hong Kong Island Regional Headquarters to attend the presentation ceremony where they were thanked by Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr. LI Kin-fai, the Regional Commander of Hong Kong Island.

Kowloon West Best Security Services Awards Motivating the security services and property management industries to combat crime with the Police
On June 5th, the ‘Kowloon West Best Security Services Awards Presentation Ceremony 2013’ organized by the Kowloon West Regional Crime Prevention Office, the Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies (HKAPMC) and the Security and Guarding Services Industry Authority (SGSIA) was held at the Police Sports and Recreation Club. Officiating guests included Assistant Commissioner of Police CHEUNG Kwai-kee , Kowloon West Regional Commander, Mr. CHAM Ka-hung Daniel, JP BBS MH, Chairman of the SGSIA, and Mr. TAM Kwok-wing Ivan, President of the HKAPMC.
To promote security and guarding services in the Region, the Kowloon West Regional Crime Prevention Office first held the ‘Kowloon West Best Security Services Awards’ in 2001. Its recognition continues to rise and it has become an annual grand event organized by the Police and security services industry in Kowloon West Region. The event has gained full support and recognition from the industry as the number of participating individuals, property management companies and car park management companies has all along been on the increase. It is also a platform for the Police to commend the devoted security personnel with outstanding performance.
Due to social changes, property management has become an important role in services industry. Under the ‘Security and Guarding Services Ordinance’, property management companies and security personnel are dedicated to safeguarding life and property, and assisting the Police in preventing crimes, so as to ensure safe environment for the public.
Last year, Kowloon City District and HKAPMC introduced a pilot scheme known as ‘Project VanGUARD’, providing a platform for exchanging information between the District and the property management personnel. The project has been launched for half a year with noticeable results. Apart from a significant drop in the crime rate, the Police and frontline security personnel have also been in close collaboration to establish a safe society to the full extend.
There are also a group of professional, hardworking and devoted security personnel playing an active role in maintaining law and order, besides the law enforcement officers. Both the security management and personnel have a clear goal of providing a safe environment to the community. It is encouraging that more and more personnel in the industry have given their full support in law enforcement and assistance in preventing and arresting culprits. The immense group has strengthened the workforce in preventing and combating crimes.

Kowloon East Best Security Services Awards Presentation Ceremony
Kowloon East Regional Crime Prevention Office (RCPO KE), Security & Guarding Services Industry Authority and Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies jointly hosted the “2013-2014 Kowloon East Best Security Services Awards Presentation Ceremony” at PSRC, Boundary Street, on November 25.
The ceremony, being the 9th year, was organized with over 300 participants, in which 63 property management representatives were presented with Outstanding Partner and Best Partner Awards, 108 with Outstanding Security Personnel Permit Holder Awards and 30 with Best Security Personnel Permit Holder Awards. One gold, silver and bronze awards were presented to the winners chosen from the 30 best security guards. The gold award winner of Best Security Guard this year, Ms YEUNG Pin-fong, displayed alertness and professionalism whilst on duty in Yau Lai Estate, Yau Tong. She went to check a chronically-ill and lone elderly person after noticing his disappearance in the estate and finally found his collapse at home. She remained calm and sought help. Finally, the elderly person was rescued. Ms YEUNG also assisted the police with their arrest of a male who damaged the banner of a district councillor in the estate. Ms YEUNG was applauded for her professionalism and outstanding performance.
The ceremony was officiated by RC KE ACP Richard Morgan, and awards were presented by Chairman of Security and Guarding Services Industry Authority Mr. CHAM Ka-hung, BBS., MH., JP., Chairman of Education and Training Committee, Dr. CHAN Chi-kau, BBS., JP., Chairmen of Kwun Tong, Wong Tai Sin and Sai Kung District Fight Crime Committees, DRC KE CSP CHENG Shuk-chun and District Commanders of Wong Tai Sin, Sau Mau Ping, Kwun Tong and Rail Districts.
The award presentation forms part of a crime prevention initiative of KE Region – Public Rental Housing Estate Access Control Project – to enhance access control of visitors, remain alert and prevent burglaries in public housing estates. Speaking at the ceremony, RC KE ACP Richard Morgan expressed heartfelt gratitude to all awardees for their outstanding performance in helping police fight crimes; extended sincere thanks to all security services companies, property management companies and relevant organizations for their support, contribution and close collaboration with the police in crime prevention for making Hong Kong one of the world's safest and stablest societies.

Kowloon East Regional Crime Prevention Office (RCPO KE), Security & Guarding Services Industry Authority and Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies jointly hosted the “2012-2013 Kowloon East Best Security Services Election Awards Presentation Ceremony” at Tsz Wan Shan Community Hall on October 24.
The ceremony, being the 8th year, was organized with over 300 participants, in which 55 property management representatives were presented with Outstanding Partner and Best Partner Awards, 76 with Outstanding Security Personnel Permit Holder Awards and 28 with Best Security Personnel Permit Holder Awards. Two gold awards, two silver awards and one bronze award were presented to the winners chosen from the 28 best security guards. The gold award winners were security guards of Wo Lok Estate in Kwun Tong. They were complimented for their bravery and sober mind in assisting the police with subduing and arresting a burglar, armed with a cutter, who put up resistance and attempted to escape.

New Territories South “Best Security Personnel Awards 2013-2014”

The presentation ceremony of “New Territories South Best Security Personnel Awards 2013-2014” was held at Tsuen Wan Town Hall on 2014-11-10. A total of 960 security personnel were nominated by various owners’ corporations, property management companies, security companies and respective District Commanders for this election, the number of which hit the highest record. After evaluation made by the Judge Panel, 481 security personnel in total were commended, 9 of them awarded with the most honourable ‘Best Security Personnel Prize’ and recognized by metal badges in praising for their professional performance. In addition, 6 property management companies were awarded with ‘Best Crime Prevention Partner’ commendation letters in praising for their contributions in crime prevention publicity rendered to the police.
The ceremony was officiated by ACP LUI Hon-kwok, RC NTS who praised the prize winners for setting a model to the security industry and encouraged them to keep efforts on building a safe community for the residents and business tenants in the area. Moreover, he thanked all security personnel for their contribution in maintaining a high standard of public security.
NTS Best Security Personnel Awards Presentation Ceremony – praise for outstanding security personnel ( 2013-12-05 )
The New Territories South Best Security Personnel Awards 2012-2013 Presentation Ceremony was held on 5th December 2013 at Tsuen Wan Town Hall. This year, the number of security personnel nominated by owners’ incorporation, property management companies and security companies reached a record high at 914. The selection Board finally gave out commendations to 459 of the nominees, amongst them 16 were given the highest ‘Best Security Personnel Award’ and medals for that in recognition of their professionalism. Awardees may wear the medals on their uniform while on duty. On the other hand, five property management companies were presented with letters of appreciation in recognition of their contribution to assist the police in crime prevention campaigns.
While officiating at the ceremony, Miss Edwina LAU Chi-wai, New Territories South Regional Commander, praised the awardees for their exemplary performance and encouraged them to keep up the professionalism and work with the police in combating crimes.
Nomination to 'NTN Best Security Services Awards 2014' will be begun on 15th December 2014 and closed on 30th January 2015. Since 2006, NTN Regional Headquarters have conducted the ‘Best Security Guard Awards’ annually to compliment the outstanding security guards. Effective security management not only rely on quality security management measures, but also requires security personnel doing the good quality security work to achieve optimal effect. Therefore, ‘NTN Best Security Guard Awards’ are held with the purpose of gathering security personnel for sharing experience and learning quality security management from each other so as to encourage raising the standard of their professionalism.
The presentation ceremony was held successfully at Yuen Long Theatre on 2014-05-07. The largest number of participants including 4,215 security guards took part in the ‘Best Security Guard Awards 2013’. Members from the Security and Guarding Services Industry Authority, the Hong Kong Security Association and the Crime Prevention Bureau were invited to form a panel of judges and they selected 610 ‘Outstanding Award’ winners from the record-breaking number of participants. Amongst these winners, 12 groups of ‘The Most Outstanding Top-10 Best Security Guards’ in which winners of gold prize, silver prize and bronze prize were selected.
The guests of honour of the presentation ceremony this year included ACP CHUNG Siu-yeung, RC NTN, Mr. Daniel CHAM Ka-hung JP, chairman of the Security and Guarding Services Industry Authority, the chairpersons of all District Fight Crime Committees within the Region and officers from Police Headquarters and various Districts. In addition to prize presentation, video clips made by the organizer of how the gold prize winners won their honour were played back to 800 plus guests. In addition, in order to liven up the ceremony, the famous Chinese Orchestra of the New Territories Heung Yee Kuk Yuen Long District Secondary School was invited to give performance. After the ceremony, all guests and prize winners enjoyed refreshments in a joyful atmosphere and shared the feelings of winning prize as well as crime prevention knowledge.
