General Enquiries

1. What are the acceptable file formats of the attachment? Will the maximum file size limit for uploaded attachments be increased in the future?

  • The e-Report Centre currently supports uploading attachments such as photos, videos (applicable to certain type of report) and text files in the following common formats: jpg, tiff, png, bmp, jpeg, jpe, jfif, tif, mp4, mov, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, pdf, txt, xps, rtf and csv.
  • The total file size limit for attachments in a single report has been increased from 20MB to 50MB.

2. How does the Informant know that the on-line e-Report procedure is completed? / Will the Informant receive an acknowledgement receipt after submitting the e-Report?

An e-Report number for the successful e-Report will be generated after the Informant has completed the on-line e-Report form. The Police will acknowledge receipt through email about 15 minutes after the successful submission. If the Informant does not receive the first acknowledgement email, please call the e-Report Centre at 2860-2000 for enquiry.

3. Can the Informant change their email address after the successful e-Report? Can the Informant amend the e-Report or provide supplementary information after a successful submission?

  • The Informant CANNOT change the email address provided in the e-Report, but the Informant can submit a new e-Report and provide the e-Reference number of the previous submission in the details section for identification.
  • The Informant CANNOT amend the content submitted to the e-Report Centre but the Informant CAN contact the responsible Report Room upon receipt of the second acknowledgement email with the Report Room DO contact for enquiry and providing supplementary information for the case he/she reported.

4. Will the Informant receive a record of the information provided after submitting the e-Report?

After submitting the e-Report, the Informant can download a summary of the report (in PDF format) from the webpage / Hong Kong Police Mobile App for record keeping, but it will not be accessible again after closing the webpage.

5. Whom the Informant can contact when he/she does not know how to complete the steps of e-Report?

The Informant can call the e-Report Centre at 2860-2000 for enquiry or email the comment or technical problem to e-RC Administrator ( e-RC-administrator@police.gov.hk).

6. What languages does the e-Report Centre support?

The e-Report Centre supports English, Traditional Chinese & Simplified Chinese.

7. What platforms provide services for the e-Report Centre? (From August 2025)

Members of public can access the e-Report Centre through the Police Public Webpage, the Hong Kong Police Mobile Application, and Self-Services Kiosk located in the Police Stations.

8. What new features have been added to the e-Report Centre? (From August 2025)

  1. Auto form-filling
    Members of public can access the e-Report Centre using the “HKPF Digital Services Logon” or “i AM Smart” authentication. The system will automatically fill in the registered personal information, reducing the need for repeated input.

  2. Map Function
    The e-Report has added a map indication feature, allowing members of public to click on the map to select the incident location. The address field will automatically display the selected location and can be modified if necessary. The map also supports GPS positioning to mark reporter’s location accurately, minimizing manually input errors.

  3. Increased Attachment Upload Capacity
    The maximum attachment upload limit has been increased from the current 20MB to 50MB.

  4. Newly Added “Temp Save” Function
    A Temp Save function has been added to the form “Report Technology Crime and Deception”, allowing users to temporarily save their information for up to 48 hours. Users can log in again within 48 hours via “HKPF Digital Services Logon” or “i AM Smart” authentication to continue editing or submit the form. If the user does not submit within 48 hours, the form will not be considered submitted.

9. Is registration required to login to the e-Report Centre? (From August 2025)

All e-Report forms must be submitted through logging in to the e-Report Centre with the “HKPF Digital Services Logon” or “i AM Smart”.

10. Whom can the Informant contact with when he/she does not know how to register or login to the “HKPF Digital Services Logon” account?

If members of the public encounter problems during registration or login for “HKPF Digital Services Logon” account , please call the 24-hour support hotline at 8226 1886 for assistance or check the frequently asked questions on the “HKPF Digital Services Logon” page.

11. Can citizens report traffic related offences under “Project PROVE” through e-Report Centre? (From August 2025)

Starting from 10th August 2025, the Hong Kong Police Force will launch the new mobile application named “Hong Kong Police Mobile Application”, optimizing the e-Report function. “Project PROVE” under the WeChat platform will be incorporated into the form of “Motorist Misbehaviour” in e-Report Centre. Citizens can download the new mobile application and report traffic related offences through the e-Report form of “Motorist Misbehaviour”.

Technical Questions

12. Why are some Chinese characters not displayed on my computer?

This system adopts Unicode as the encoding standard for Chinese characters. Therefore, your computer has to support the latest Unicode in order to display the Chinese characters (including Hong Kong Supplementary Character Set (HKSCS)) properly.

13. What are the system requirements for using the e-Report Centre?

The e-Report Centre (e-RC) are compatible most modern browsers. However, since each device displays fonts slightly differently and users may have customized their default font size and screen resolution. For optimal performance, we recommend using the appearance of the e-RC webpages may vary across different device and settings.

The latest versions of Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Safari or Google Chrome. To update your browser, please visit the official websites of these products.

Please ensure that JavaScript is enabled and cookies are allowed in your browser. Disabling JavaScript or cookies may cause some HKPF eRC webpages to display or function improperly.

14.The system has displayed “Machine Settings Problem”. What should I do?

Your browser should enable JavaScript. Please visit the official website of your browser for instruction on how to enable JavaScript.

Note: If you are accessing the e-RC from computers resided in your working environment, your system administrator may have applied the JavaScript settings, you are not allowed to update the setting by yourself. In this case, please consult your system administrator for assistance.

15. My web browser displays an Information bar and notifies me that a pop-up window has been blocked. What should I do?

Your browser should be configured to allow pop-up windows. Please visit the official website of your browser for instruction on how to allow pop-up windows.

Note: If you are accessing the e-RC from computers resided in your working environment, your system administrator may have applied the Pop-up Window settings, you are not allowed to update the setting by yourself. In this case, please consult your system administrator for assistance.
