Since 2006, the JPC cooperative with various community groups, such as the World Wide Fund for Nature (Hong Kong), the Conservancy Association organized a program called "Junior Police Call Environmental Badge Scheme" (The Scheme). The Scheme categorized into advance leaders, leaders and members level and provides training respectively. For years, more than 600 different levels of JPC members have successfully completed the training.
JPC Advanced Leaders who under the Scheme were required to receive a series of training, including seminars, tutorials, field studies and voluntary conservation work etc., to study local and global environment topics and mastered the skills of organising environmental education activities. They also applied what they had learnt and took part in the work of training JPC Leaders and Members. For JPC Leaders, the training was knowledge-based, with a view to arousing deeper thoughts for environmental subjects by enhancing their knowledge on local and international environmental issues. For JPC Members, a seminar and field study was conducted to raise their awareness of environmental protection and inspire them to think about the contemporary problems for the environmental conditions and risks.
Those students have outstanding performance on the training, upon the recommendation and selection, will have the opportunity to participant an oversea environmental field study and exchange programme, such as Malaysia and Korea. Through this exchange programme, they could boarden their version on understanding cross-territory environmental concepts and policies issues. A shareing session will arrange to other members while they return to their parent formation.
Through the Scheme, our expectation is to encourage all JPC members to continue their efforts in disseminating the message of environmental protection to peers, family and their surroundings, so that Hong Kong may become a green city soon.
