1. The name and information of the new course for the JPC Advanced Leader to be rated as the QF3?

  • The name of the course is "Certificate of Knowledge in Policing Programme" (Certificate of Knowledge in Policing Programme)
  • It is a part-time course, which lasts for 14 months, including a five-day and four-night training camp held at the Palxiang Youth Information Center, and one to two days of classroom study on weekends (Saturday or Sunday) each month. And time depends on the course schedule
  • After being approved by the Hong Kong Council for the Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications in October 2020, this course can be simultaneously open to all Junior Police Call members who have completed the "Police Knowledge Certificate Course" prerequisite (three-day and two-night training camp) and interviews. Leaders enrolled.

2. Who can apply?

  • 15 to 25 years old, and have junior high school education (secondary third degree or other equivalent education) can apply for the Junior Police Call (based on the day of school start, the age is not less than 15 or not more than 25); or
  • Junior Police Call members and leaders aged 15 to 25 with a junior high school degree (secondary third degree or other equivalent) can complete the preparatory course of the "Police Knowledge Certificate Course" (three-day and two-night training camp) and an interview. Enrollment (calculated on the day of school start, age not less than 15 years old or not more than 25 years old)
  • Chinese is the teaching language of the course, so applicants who can speak Cantonese fluently and have Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing skills can apply
  • Applicants do not need to take entrance exams or examinations (such as minority youths who are not attending mainstream schools, they need to attend an interview to process their applications)

3. What are the course objectives of the "Police Knowledge Certificate Course"?

  • Teach young people the basic knowledge of police affairs and Hong Kong's judicial system
  • Let young people know more about police work and master the basic knowledge and skills required by Hong Kong law enforcement agencies or related industries
  • Through a series of training activities, to instill correct values in young people, not only to cultivate their sense of social responsibility, but also to help them become youth leaders and fight crime partners in the future

4. What are the benefits of the JPC Advanced Leadership Course being recognized for qualifications?

  • Improve the quality and credibility of the Junior Police Call training courses
  • Allow young people to obtain recognized professional qualifications (level 3) as soon as possible, while enriching other learning experiences
  • Strive for the approval of the JPC from schools and parents

5. What are the benefits/uses of taking the Police Knowledge Certificate Course?

  • The course covers most of the NSS curriculum "Other Learning Experience", including "Moral and Civic Education", "Social Service", "Work-related Experience" and "Sports Development" to assist students Whole person development, and the curriculum is at the same qualification level as the "Applied Learning Course" of the New Senior Secondary Curriculum
  • The course provides quality learning opportunities and pathways, so that the JPC deep-funded leaders have a clear direction during their studies, and can plan their personal career planning and further studies as soon as possible
  • The course helps trainees to understand the actual work requirements of the police force. After completing the course, trainees will have a certain understanding of the background and development of the police force
  • If the trainees who have completed the course are interested in joining the police force in the future, they will have certain advantages in the recruitment and selection process or when they are trained in the police academy

6. When will the new courses start?

The first preparatory course of the "Police Knowledge Certificate Course" (3 days and 2 nights training camp) will be held from April 15, 2022 to April 17, 2022 at Saigon Bangi Activity and Training Center

The new course will be launched at the end of April 2021


7. How many students are there in each class?

Maximum of 50 students per class


8. What is the content of the course?

The course is divided into six units with a total of 240 hours (24 credits). The time for face-to-face instruction is about 142 hours. The rest is non-face-to-face time (for example, self-study and examination), including:

  • Unit One-Youth Development and Civic Education (30 hours)
  • Module 2-Police Work and Community Policing (40 hours)
  • Module Three-Criminal Justice System and Laws (30 hours)
  • Module 4-Criminal and Traffic Offences (40 hours)
  • Unit 5-Youth Leadership Training (70 hours)
  • Unit 6-physical development training (30 hours)

Courses are conducted in the form of classroom lectures, internships, experience sharing, discussions, and outings. After completing the course and passing the assessment, you will be awarded a "Police Knowledge Certificate" by the Public Relations Wing of the Police Force (QF Level 3)


9. What are the graduation requirements for the course?

  • Participants need to complete the assessment of all units, including written examinations, individual reports, group reports, oral reports and physical fitness tests, and pass the results after all assessment items are taken, and
  • Only when you reach the specified attendance rate can you graduate

10. What is the attendance rate requirement for the course?

  • "Police Knowledge Certificate Course" modules 1 to 4 and module 6, each module at least 80% attendance rate
  • "Police Knowledge Certificate Course" Module 5 must achieve 100% attendance
  • "Police Knowledge Certificate Course" prerequisite (3 days and 2 nights training camp), must achieve 100% attendance

11. Do course operators provide learning support services?

The course tutors will try their best to assist the students to complete the course. If the student's performance is not as good as possible, the tutor will arrange tutoring and make-up lessons according to different situations, and try to help the students reach the standard


12. Where will the course be trained?

There are a total of seven training locations for the course. Except for Module 5, the location will be flexibly arranged according to the course and the needs of the students. The locations include:

  • Palxiang Youth Information Center (designated training location for Unit 5)
  • Sai Kung Bangi Activity and Training Center (designated training location for Module 5)
  • Arsenal Building, Wan Chai Police Headquarters
  • Wong Chuk Hang Police Academy Basic Training School
  • Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Headquarters
  • Mong Kok Police Sports and Recreation Club
  • Juvenile Police Call Clubs in various districts
