2004-01-02 12:05 Police will implement special traffic arrangements to facilitate a cycling race to be held in Wan Chai on Sunday (January 4). (A) Road closures: (1) The following roads will be closed between 2 am and 11.30 am: (i) Southbound Tim Wa Avenue; (ii) Tim Mei Avenue; (iii) Nearside merging lane of eastbound Harcourt Road between Tim Wa Avenue and Tim Mei Avenue; and (iv) One nearside lane of eastbound Harcourt Road between Tim Wa Avenue and Tim Mei Avenue. (2) The following roads will be closed between 8 am and 10.30 am: (i) Northbound Tim Wa Avenue, except vehicles of the People's Liberation Army and franchised buses; (ii) A section of Lung Wui Road between Tim Wa Avenue and Fenwick Pier Street; (iii) Performing Arts Avenue; (iv) Lung King Street; (v) Fenwick Pier Street; (vi) Fenwick Pier Street Flyover; (vii) A section of northbound Fenwick Street between Gloucester Road and Fenwick Pier Street; (viii) A section of Convention Avenue between Fenwick Pier Street and Fleming Road, however one nearside lane of westbound Convention Avenue will be maintained for traffic; (ix) Expo Drive; (x) Expo Drive Central; and (xi) Expo Drive East. (3) The following roads will be closed between 8 am and 11.30 am: (i) Second nearside lane of eastbound Harcourt Road between Cotton Tree Drive Interchange and Tim Mei Avenue; (ii) The 'U' turn loop underneath Harcourt Road Flyover from westbound to eastbound; and (iii) A section of northbound Cotton Tree Drive between Lambeth Walk and Harcourt Road. (B) Traffic Diversions: (1) The following traffic diversions will be implemented between 2 am and 11.30 am: (i) Traffic on westbound Lung Wui Road will be prohibited to turn left to southbound Tim Wa Avenue; and (ii) Traffic on eastbound Harcourt Road will be prohibited to turn left to northbound Tim Mei Avenue. (2) The following traffic diversions will be implemented between 8 am and 10.30 am: (i) Traffic on northbound Tim Wa Avenue will be prohibited to turn right to eastbound Lung Wui Road; (ii) Traffic on eastbound Harcourt Road will be prohibited to turn left to northbound Performing Arts Avenue; (iii) Traffic from Red Cross car park will be diverted to southbound Performing Arts Avenue; (iv) Traffic on eastbound Gloucester Road will be prohibited to turn left to northbound Fenwick Street; (v) Traffic on westbound Harbour Road, except heading for buildings at the west of Fleming Road must turn left to southbound Fleming Road; (vi) Traffic on westbound Harbour Road must turn left to southbound Fenwick Street; and (vii) Traffic on westbound Convention Avenue must turn left to eastbound Harbour Road; (3) The following traffic diversions will be implemented between 8 am and 11.30 am: (i) Traffic on the two nearside lanes of eastbound Harcourt Road must turn right to Cotton Tree Drive Interchange; (ii) Traffic on northbound Cotton Tree Drive must turn left to Lambeth Walk; and (iii) Traffic on Inner Harcourt Road westbound will be prohibited to 'U' turn onto eastbound Harcourt Road. (C) Suspension of Parking Spaces: The following roadside parking spaces will be temporarily suspended between 7 am and 10.30 am: (i) All metered parking spaces for coach along Expo Drive East; (ii) All metered parking spaces along Lung King Street; and (iii) All motorcycle parking spaces along Lung King Street. (D) Suspension of Bus Terminus and Taxi Stand: 1. The taxi stand at Expo Drive East beside the Bauhinia Square will be temporarily suspended between 7 am and 10.30 am. 2. The bus terminus at Expo Drive East beside the Bauhinia Square will be temporarily suspended between 7 am and 10.30 am. It will be relocated to the bus terminus opposite to Wanchai Ferry Pier. (E) Temporarily suspension of public car park Vehicles access to the public car parks at Tim Mei Avenue and Expo Drive Central within the closed roads will be prohibited. Vehicles parked in these car parks will not be permitted to leave until the closed roads are re-opened. |
