2004-01-10 16:01

Police today (January 10) appeal to members of the public for information on a baby whose body was found off Shek Ngau Chau in December last year.

Enquiries revealed that a 45-year-old fisherman of a Hong Kong-licensed trawler discovered the baby body among his catch at about 4.45 am on December 18, 2003 off Shek Ngau Chau, which is located outside Hong Kong waters.

A report was subsequently made to Police.

The baby with its lower part missing was naked when found.

As the body was badly decomposed, an autopsy could only reveal that the baby was about one month old and of Asian descent. The gender and cause of death could not be established pending further examinations.

Investigations by the Regional Crime Unit of Marine Police are underway.

Anyone who may have information on the baby is urged to contact investigating officers on 2803 6156.
