2004-07-01 23:18 Police today (July 1) urged the public not to buy semi-finished LCD monitors of doubious origins. The appeal came after a robbery case of semi-finished LCD monitors in Tsuen Wan early this morning. In the case, a total of 4,134 units of semi-finished LCD monitors were robbed. At about 3.30 am this morning, the driver of a medium-goods vehicle (MGV) loaded 28 boxes of semi-finished LCD monitors at the airport for delivery to Kwai Chung area. When the MGV passed Tsing Tsuen Road near Tsuen Tsing Roundabout, a light-goods vehicle (LGV) took over the MGV forcing it to stop. Two men from the LGV immediately alighted and approached the MGV. The two culprits then threatened the MGV driver with a pistol-like object and ordered him to get off. The driver was then hit on his head with a hard object. With the head covered and limbs tied up, the driver was brought on board the LGV. He was later found on the pavement of Route Twisk near Tai Lam Country Park by a passer-by who reported the case. The total value of the semi-finished LCD monitors is estimated to be about $7.6 million. Investigations by Regional Crime Unit of the New Territories South, are proceeding. Anyone who has information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers at 2631 8404 or 2631 8418.
