Fatal traffic accident in Sai Kung : Sai Kung

Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in which a 38-year-old man was killed in Sai Kung this (November 6) morning.

At about 9.30 am, a maxicab driven by a 39-year-old man was travelling uphill Hoi Ha Road towards Sai Kung town area. While reaching near Pak Sha O Youth Hostel, the car overtook a bicycle ahead by crossing to the carriageway of the opposite lane where the 38-year-old man was riding on another bicycle travelling downhill. Upon seeing this, both vehicles swerved to the uphill lane and reportedly collided there.

Sustaining serious head injuries, he was rushed to Tseung Kwan O Hospital where he was certified dead at 10.51 am.

The 39-year-old maxicab driver was later arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is still being detained for enquiries.

Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East are underway.
