2005-11-08 10:00 A total of 140 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 85 summonses were issued to motorists and pedestrians who violated traffic regulations during an operation by Traffic Kowloon East yesterday (November 7). The Kowloon East Regional Traffic Day was conducted between 7 am and 11 pm yesterday and 220 officers from Traffic Kowloon East, District Traffic Teams of Wong Tai Sin, Sau Mau Ping and Kwun Tong were deployed to enforce regulations at the traffic accident blacksites and the potential traffic accident locations in Kowloon East Region. Another 189 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and other parking offences. A total of 107 pedestrians and 29 drivers were verbally warned for committing jaywalking and other minor traffic offences. Meanwhile, pamphlets and leaflets on road safety message were also distributed to the road users. Statistics revealed that a total of 1,834 traffic accidents had occurred in Kowloon East Region from January to October this year. |
