2004-01-06 14:48 Police today (January 6) appeal to members of the public for information on a traffic accident in which a 94-year-old woman was killed in Chai Wan earlier this month. At about 6.45 am on January 2, a taxi driven by a 59-year-old man was travelling along southbound Shing On Street. When the taxi was turning right into westbound Sai Wan Ho Street, it reportedly knocked down the elderly woman who was crossing the road. Sustaining injuries to her palm, the elderly woman was initially treated by ambulancemen at the scene and refused to go to hospital. At about 10.30 am on the same day, the son of the elderly woman made a report to Police that his mother had collapsed at home. The elderly woman was then rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital where she was certified dead at 10.53 am. Police urged anyone who might have witnessed the accident to contact the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island at 3106 8800. |
