Anti-vice operation : Hong Kong Island

Police and the Immigration Department arrested 24 persons on Hong Kong Island in a joint operation which commenced yesterday (October 25) afternoon.

Police officers attached to the Regional Special Duty Squad of Hong Kong Island and officers from the Task Force of the Immigration Department, coupled with the effort by the Special Duty Squad of various Districts on Hong Kong Island, raided more than 50 locations on the region since 3 pm yesterday.

During the operation, a total of six men and 18 women, aged between 23 and 64, were arrested for various offences including publishing obscene articles, keeping a vice establishment, managing a vice establishment, soliciting for immoral purposes, living on earnings of prostitution, overstaying and breaching conditions of stay.

The operation concluded at 4.30 am today (October 26) and all the arrested persons are being detained for further enquiries.

A Police spokesman reiterated that the Police would continue working closely with other government departments to eradicate any illegal vice-related activities.
