2004-01-30 01:13 Police are investigating the death of an 82-year-old man who was found collapsed in Shau Kei Wan last (January 29) night. Initial enquiries revealed at about 6.20 pm a report was made to Police that the man was lying unconscious on the staircase between the ground floor and first floor of 239A Shau Kei Wan Road, Shau Kei Wan. Sustaining a wound on his head above his left ear, the man living on an upper floor of the building was rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital where he was certified dead at 6.50 pm. A piece of bloodstained, broken marble was located at the scene. Investigations by the Regional Crime Unit of Hong Kong Island are proceeding. An autopsy will be conducted on the deceased later today (January 30) to find out the cause of his death.
