Arson : Admiralty MTR Station

Police are investigating an arson attack in Admiralty MTR Station this (January 5) morning in which 14 persons were injured.

At 9.14 am today, Police received reports that a fire broke out inside the first compartment of a Central-bound train when it arrived at Admiralty MTR Station.

The fire was put out by the MTR staff. A total of 14 passengers, comprising a man, 12 women and a girl, aged between two and 54, suffered minor injuries during the incident. They were all sent to Queen Mary Hospital and were all discharged after medical treatment.

Quantities of suspected thinner and gas cylinders (two-gram camping use) were seized at the scene.

Police are looking for a man aged around 50, carrying a trolley and a plastic bag, during the time of the incident. The motive of the attack is under active investigations by the Regional Crime Unit of Hong Kong Island (RCU/HKI).
