2004-01-13 18:01 Police yesterday (January 12) arrested three persons for causing prostitution. Initial enquiries by the District Crime Squad of Yau Tsim (DCS/YT) revealed that a 28-year-old woman was acquainted with a man in October last year. She later cohabited with the man with a group of other followers in a flat on Portland Street in Yau Ma Tei. The woman was lured by some of the followers to surrender her money to them and soon after she was also enticed to engage in prostitution activities. The woman subsequently made a report to the Police on Saturday (January 10). Police officers of the DCS/YT yesterday raided seven locations in Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui and Mong Kok, resulting in the arrest of two men and a woman aged between 35 and 43. Investigations showed that some of the raided premises were used for vice activities. Some bank documents, computer records and gambling equipment were seized during the operation. It was further revealed that some other female followers were also engaged in prostitution while male followers were assigned to work in a transportation company run by the group. The trio are still being detained by the DCS/YT for enquiries. Anyone who might have been in contact with the group is urged to contact the investigating officers at 2731 7238 or 2731 7239. |
