Fatal traffic accident : Kwun Tong

Police are investigating a traffic accident in Kwun Tong today (January 21) in which a 21-year-old woman was killed and a 30-year-old man injured.

At about 3.10 pm, a light goods vehicle (LGV) travelling along eastbound Wai Yip Street reportedly knocked down a 21-year-old woman who was crossing the road near the junction with Lai Yip Street. The LGV stopped after it had pushed a stationary private car parked outside 131 Wai Yip Street into a car beauty salon.

Sustaining injuries, both the 21-year-old woman and the 30-year-old LGV driver were rushed to United Christian Hospital where the woman was certified dead at 3.26 pm.

Investigations by Special Investigation Team, Traffic, Kowloon East are proceeding.

The 30-year-old LGV driver was later arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He has been released on bail at $10,000 and is required to report back to Police on February 4.
