2004-01-30 19:13 Police today (January 30) arrested a 28-year-old man suspected of involving in a series of blackmail against some hotels in Hong Kong. Initial Police investigations into a complaint made by a hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui revealed that about two weeks ago, the 28-year-old man alleged to have found some glass fragments in the food served in a restaurant inside the hotel. He then asked for compensation from the hotel. Officers from the Divisional Support Team of Tsim Sha Tsui (DVSU/TST), which took up the investigation, arrested the 28-year-old German male when he arrived at the hotel to collect the cheque at about 2 pm today. Further enquiries showed that the man had threatened two other hotels on Hong Kong Island by the same manner in the past six months. He is still being detained by the DVSU/TST for questioning. Any hotel suspected to have been victimised is urged to contact the investigating officers at 2731 7260 or the Report Room of Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station at 2731 7278. |
