2003-05-02 16:29 A 22-year-old man was sentenced to two years and eight months of imprisonment after being convicted of trafficking in dangerous drugs at the District Court today (May 2). The court heard that officers from the Police Narcotics Bureau (NB) launched an in-depth investigation into a drug syndicate active in Tai Kok Tsui early this year. On February 5, NB officers raided a flat in Kowloon where 17 kilograms of marijuana were found in a suitcase. A 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with the seizure. The haul was worth about $1.26 million if sold in the local retail market. He was later charged with one count of trafficking in dangerous drug. The man pleaded guilty to his charge and the sentence was meted out today. |
