2003-12-28 19:36 Police appeal to members of the public to provide information on an arson in Cheung Sha Wan last (December 27) night in which 11 persons were injured. A fire broke out inside a leather factory in an industrial building at 781 Lai Chi Kok Road shortly before 8 pm yesterday, leaving 11 men aged between 46 and 71 injured. They were all taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital and the Caritas Medical Centre for treatment. Initial Police enquiries revealed that a man was seen rushing into the premises, splashing some inflammable liquid and then ignited the fire. The man, suspected to have injuries to his leg, managed to escape afterwards. Police are looking for the man aged between 30 and 40 who was connected with this case. He is about 1.65 metres tall and of fat build, and was wearing a dark coloured sweater and trousers during the incident. Investigations by the Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon West are proceeding. Police appeal to medical practitioners who came across any suspicious person sustaining injuries to his leg to contact the investigating officers at 2761 2345. Taxi drivers who had picked up an injured man along Lai Chi Kok Road, Cheung Fat Street or Hing Wah Street last night are also urged to contact the Police to provide information. |
