Anti-vice operation nets 61 persons : Mong Kok

Police arrested 61 persons in Mong Kok in an anti-vice operation concluded at 2 am today (December 30).

Police officers from the District Special Duty Squads of Mong Kok, together with the officers of the Immigration Department and the Telecommunications Authority started the operation at 3 pm yesterday (December 29), resulting in the arrest of three men and 58 Mainland women aged between 16 and 49 in 60 locations in the district.

Fifty-seven out of the 58 women, who are two-way permit holder, were arrested for breaching conditions of stay while the remaining woman is an illegal immigrant.

The officers also arrested three men for managing vice establishment, possession of Part One poison and possession of Radio Transmitter without a licence respectively.

During the operation, a total of 176 vice signboards were removed.

Among the 57 female two-way permit holders, six of them were charged with breach of conditions of stay and they will appear in North Kowloon Magistrates' Courts later today, whereas the rest of them were handed over to the Immigration Department for follow-up action.

A Police spokesman reiterated that operations would be conducted on a regular basis to eradicate any illegal vice-related activities.
