Swift Police action led to the arrest of an 18-year-old man for robbery at 19 Pok Man St., Mong Kok, Kowloon.

At about 1030 hrs on 2002.01.19, a victim (male aged 30) was confronted by two
males at the above location. One of the culprits attacked him with a metal pipe
in an attempt to rob him. A scuffle ensued during which the victim received
minor injuries. The culprits then fled empty-handed. Shortly afterwards one
suspect (male aged 19), matching a culprit's description, was apprehended in
connection with the case.

Shortly after 10 am, a 30-year-old delivery worker went to a flat on Pok Man
Street to deliver a television set worth about $50,000. While he was
waiting outside the unit, he was attacked by two male culprits with water
pipes. A scuffle arose among them and the culprits fled the scene empty-handed.
A police officer handling a traffic accident nearby was alerted when one of the
culprits fled along Foo Kwai Street. The 18-year-old man was intercepted by the
officer and eventually arrested for assault with intent to rob. The victim and
the arrested person were taken to Kwong Wah Hospital and Queen Elizabeth
Hospital respectively for medical treatment. The arrested person is being
detained for further enquiries.
