2004-01-02 18:17 Police today (January 2) appeal to members of the public to provide information on the death of an elderly man whose body was found in Sheung Shui in December last year. The case came to light when a 68-year-old woman found his 74-year-old husband collapsed at his home in Kan Tau Tsuen, Ma Mei Ha at about noon on December 23. The man was confirmed dead at the scene and no apparent injuries were found. A post-mortem conducted on December 30, however, indicated that the deceased sustained fatal injuries to his brain. Further examinations have to be carried out to ascertain the cause of the injuries. Initial enquiries revealed that the man lived alone at the scene. The wooden door of the hut was found bolted from inside and all the windows were shut. Neither breaking nor ransacking signs were detected while the personal property of the deceased remained intact. Police investigations showed that the deceased had a habit to frequent a restaurant in Luen Wo Hui, Fanling in the morning. The case, which was classified as body found, has been taken over by the District Crime Squad of Tai Po for investigations. Anyone who has information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers at 2660 3281. |
