2004-01-18 00:04 The prompt action taken by Police led to the arrest of a 14-year-old boy suspected to have been involved in a robbery in Pat Heung tonight (January 17). Initial enquiries revealed that at about 7.45 pm Police received a report that a 50-year-old woman was robbed by a boy riding a bicycle near Wing Ling San Tsuen. The culprit robbed her of her handbag and fled on the bike towards Kam Sheung Road. During the robbery the victim slipped onto the ground and sustained injuries to her head. She was sent to North District Hospital for medical treatment. In response to the report, police officers of the Pat Heung Division deployed to the scene encountered a 14-year-old boy who might be the suspect at the junction of Po Tei Road and Kam Sheung Road. He struggled with the Police officers but was finally subdued. During the struggle, a police constable twisted his left hand and right leg while another twisted his right elbow. They were sent to North District Hospital for medical treatment. A search conducted on the suspect recovered some of the lost property comprising a wallet, some $380, a bankcard and an ID card of the victim. A cutter about 15 centimetres in length was also found in the suspect's procession. The boy was arrested for robbery, resisting arrest and possession of an offensive weapon. He is being detained for enquiries. Investigations by the Divisional Investigation Team of Pat Heung are proceeding. |
