JPC members enjoy the meaningful tree planting activity. This is my second time to join the Tree Planting Day.

Tree planting is one of the many things people can do to help make the environment a better one. It is quite an easy, fun and rewarding activity. That is why this is the second year for me to join.

This is a very memorable year because it would be my last year in primary school and I went with my favourite teacher Miss Yip, some secondary school students and some of my closest friends. We first met at school in the afternoon. Then we took a school bus to the planting site in Sai Kung.

When we reached Sai Kung, we were each given two small trees and a shovel. There were staff who taught us the proper way to plant trees. After that, we climbed up the mountain. I did not know that the actual planting site was on a mountain, so I was a bit scared at first. It turned out to be a lot of fun, not dangerous or tiring at all. One of my friends and I even sang with laughter on the way up.

When we finally arrived, we saw a big piece of ground with lots of holes for trees. So we started planting. It was quite a messy process but a great one. We put trees into the holes and filled them with soil. We had to make sure that they were safely and firmly placed. When everybody finished, we slowly walked downhill.

I still feel great about planting trees because it helps make a greener future. It is really meaningful. We can breathe cleaner air. I hope more people can do it too.
