警聲

Dear Sir,

I turned on the light the moment I got into my home from work at 7:40 pm, and there was on the floor a dark brown snake of approximately two feet in length, slithering away (obviously responding to the light) towards the corner of my lounge. At the suggestion of my neighbour, I dialled 999 for the first time in my life!

Not knowing what will happen next, I kept watching towards the corner where the snake had disappeared, so that I could be sure it remained in the same place when the police showed up and that I won't be making a false report! When these four officers arrived in about half an hour's time, they asked me for a broom and a garbage bag. They located the snake hiding coiled up underneath my junk in no time; it was hard for them to control the snake with only the broom. In the end, I thought of providing them with a pair of BBQ tongs. Then they succeeded in catching the snake and had it securely locked in the garbage bag! I was really impressed to find them so brave and efficient. One of the officers told me it was a baby Cobra; and only this morning, my neighbour told me that the bite of a baby could be just as lethal as that of an adult Cobra!

May this letter carry my billion THANKS to these brave officers who relieved me of my fright in less than an hour's time from the time I dialled 999!

Ms Tung

(Editor's note: the officers praised in this letter are PC Yeung Chi-kwong, Poon Chi-kwong, Fong Kwok-hong and Fan Ying-ho, all from PSU 3 LTSDIV)
