The annual Job Attachment Programme of the Police Mentorship Programme (PMP) has operated for the 7th year with mentees working in different police formations during their summer vacation, assisting in various short-term projects such as research and review, organisation of events, and information and technology. The attachment programme enabled the mentees to gain a better understanding of the Force's culture, values and professionalism, broaden their horizons and develop their potential.

More and more PMP mentees have joined the attachment programme. Between June and August this year, 83 mentees were attached to various police formations, responsible for a total of 61 projects. The Job Attachment Closing Ceremony was held at Police College on September 7, where more than 160 mentees and mentors shared their experience of job attachments. On the same day, the mentees also attended a passing-out parade of Probationary Inspectors and Recruit Police Constables.
Prior to the closing ceremony, a competition was held for the mentees to submit written assignments on their projects and personal achievements gained from the job attachment programme. An adjudicating panel comprising mentors from ten universities short-listed ten mentees with outstanding performances.

The three mentees with the highest scores presented their projects at the closing ceremony. After the presentations, the Head Mentor, Deputy Regional Commander New Territories North, Mr Paul Lau, and the Deputy Head Mentor, Chief Superintendent Human Resources, Ms Jocelyn Cheung, chose the winners of the Gold, Silver and Bronze awards, and presented certificates to the other seven outstanding mentees.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Lau encouraged the mentees to make preparation for joining the Force and serving the community after their graduation. He also announced that forthcoming recruitment activities, included Police Inspector Express, Police Mentorship Programme and Auxiliary Undergraduates Scheme, would commence from October on university campuses to accept applications from undergraduates for Probationary Inspectors, PMP mentees or Auxiliary Constables.

A seminar for serving junior police officers with potential for Probationary Inspector will be held on October 18. Interested officers, both regular and auxiliary, may register by PEN or email to jpo-office@police.gov.hk for reservation.
