Kowloon City District (KCDIST)  continued joining forces with Caritas Kowloon Community Centre and Kowloon Chamber of Commerce this summer in running the 4th phase of "Star Making Project" for Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC).

About 30 Pakistani, Nepalese and Indian youths attended this 12-lesson Chinese language course.  While new comers take the elementary class to learn basic Chinese language for day-to-day use, students who have joined since phase 1 can expect further improvement in use of Chinese for sitting for public examinations.

As some students are interested in joining the Force, the Police Community Relations Office (PCRO) of KCDIST made arrangement for Police Constable (PC) Heina from Tin Shui Wai Division to meet the students on August 28 and share her experience of equipping herself for the recruitment process. The NEC youths found PC Heina's talk very enlightening, motivating them to brush up their proficiency in Chinese for attaining their goals.

To offer more opportunities to communicate in Chinese and foster team spirit in classroom, the PCRO organised a Bowling Fun Day at Police Sports and Recreation Club on August 30 for the NEC youths and project stakeholders.  All enjoyed the fun of the event and friendship to their heart's content.
