More than 30 members of the Auxiliary Competence Enhancement (ACE) Programme visited the Emergency Unit Hong Kong Island (EU HKI) on October 10 to familiarise themselves with the EU's work and experiences of handling crimes and incidents.

EU HKI Superintendent (SP) Young Chi-man briefed the visitors on the organisation structure and responsibilities of his Unit, introduced EU equipment and vehicles and arranged for them to try out protective gear. With SP Young and other EU officers sharing their work experiences, the ACE members got a better picture of EU jobs.

Set up in May this year by the Auxiliary Police Force, the ACE programme aims to provide a variety of training to junior auxiliary police officers so that they would develop their potential for serving the community. Sixty auxiliary junior police officers have been nominated for the programme, with nine inspectorate officers serving as mentors.
