Deputy Inspector-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) Mr Chen Shiqu led 30 CID officers and forensic experts from different provinces to visit the Force from August 8 to 12.

Mr Chen paid a courtesy call on Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Wong Chi-hung, and they discussed measures to combat various types of crime. Mr Wong welcomed similar visits by the criminal and technical experts of MPS to Hong Kong. He was confident that both sides would further enhance collaboration on criminal investigation and forensic technology. Mr Chen looked forward to regular in-depth exchanges on criminal technology between the Mainland and Hong Kong.

The Mainland delegation also visited the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau, Identification Bureau, Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau, Liaison Bureau and Crime Kowloon East Regional Headquarters to make thorough exchanges with their counterparts about evidence gathering and criminal investigation techniques.

Since the enactment of the revised Criminal Procedure Law of the Mainland in 2013, the CID of MPS has arranged 10 delegations to Hong Kong to strengthen co-operation in criminal investigation.
